Dear North Central College Campus Community,

State officials have announced that Region 8, which includes DuPage County, has met the necessary requirements to return to Tier 1 COVID-19 Resurgence Mitigations. A return to Tier 1 enables the College to operate as follows, effective today:

• College-approved, in-person events hosted by recognized student organizations, College offices, and faculty or staff can proceed with a maximum of 25 people in attendance and only as long as face coverings are worn and physical distancing is maintained. These will be the only types of events permissible anywhere on College property.
• Students, faculty, and staff can casually gather in groups of no more than 10 individuals, where face coverings are worn and physical distancing is maintained.
• In collaboration with Chartwells, the College’s food services partner, on-campus dining venues will continue to operate at 50% indoor capacity with appropriate physical distancing measures in place. There will be no self-service; all food and drink will be pre-packaged, whether taken to go or eaten indoors.

The following guidelines and expectations remain unchanged:

• Parties and unregistered events of any size are strictly prohibited as they remain high-risk activities that jeopardize the health and safety of our community.
• Members of the campus community must continue to adhere to the College’s COVID-19 health and safety measures and protocols, including: participating in surveillance testing, wearing a face covering, maintaining a safe distance from others, regularly washing hands, daily symptom tracking, and staying home when ill.

We recognize that the shifting landscape of the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in numerous updates to campus operations and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we continue to adapt and adjust accordingly. Our goal is to maintain the continuity of the College’s underlying health and safety measures, while allowing for as much freedom and flexibility as is safely possible based on state and local guidance.
