Dear North Central College Community,
As part of our multi-faceted approach for controlling the spread of COVID-19 and returning to campus safely, I am writing to provide additional information regarding #CampusClear, a daily self-screening symptom tracking mobile app that the College is making available for the use of students, faculty and staff.
#TogetherNC Health Campaign
As part of our #TogetherNC Health Campaign, we have all pledged to protect the health and safety of the campus community. Included in the pledge is a commitment by all to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and take appropriate actions if symptoms are present. The #CampusClear app is the tool for students, faculty, and staff to use in self-monitoring and tracking their symptoms. Your participation will not only benefit you as a simple way to assess the status of your personal health on a daily basis, but it will benefit the broader campus community by helping the College remain open and ensuring that we can continue to deliver a primarily in-person educational experience for our students.
The #CampusClear app can be downloaded from the Apple or Google app stores. Once downloaded, you can log in by entering your North Central College email address. You will receive an email confirmation, and after clicking the confirmation link, you will have access to the app. For those who may not have a mobile device or would prefer to use a computer-based version of the app, #CampusClear can be accessed from a desktop or laptop here: https://web.ivy.ai/app/campusclear.
Using the App
Please make sure you enable notifications from the app, which will prompt you at the beginning of each day to complete the self-screening survey. The self-screening process is quick and easy, as you will be guided by a few buttons on a single screen where you are asked to tap on the symptoms or conditions that apply to you. The symptoms or conditions include:
- No symptoms;
- I’ve tested positive for COVID-19;
- I’ve been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19;
- Temp ≥ 100.4 F/380 C or chills;
- New cough;
- Shortness of breath;
- New loss of taste or smell;
- Sore throat;
- Congestion or runny nose;
- New unexplained fatigue;
- Muscle or body ache;
- New headache;
- Nausea or vomiting;
Once you’ve selected the conditions that apply to you, tap the “See Result” button. If you select “No Symptoms,” the app will respond with a “Good to Go” message and the daily self-screening process is complete.
If you select any of the symptoms, the app will respond by asking you to take additional steps for your own health and the health of others. App users who are reporting symptoms will be given additional guidance by the app and, depending on the symptoms, may be directed to the College’s COVID-19 Reporting Form, which should be promptly completed to report COVID-19 contact, positive tests, and/or COVID-19 symptoms.
Use of the Collected Information
Data submitted through the #CampusClear app is secured by encryption. As data is collected, College medical administrators in the Dyson Wellness Center (DWC) will have a real-time view of campus trends with information that may warrant additional action or trigger other campus health and safety protocols. The #CampusClear app does not use location tracking technology on your device and is not considered a contact tracing app. However, the information gathered may be used by the College’s Contact Tracing and Case Management staff within the DWC.
Fall sports student athletes are using a separate symptom-tracking app, ATS, which has been provided by the College’s Athletic Training staff as part of the health and safety protocols established within the athletics department to enable fall sports teams to continue practicing. Student athletes participating in fall sports will use the ATS app to self-screen for symptoms and to adhere to other NCAA compliance-related items. All winter and spring sports student athletes are encouraged to use #CampusClear to self-screen for symptoms. Additional information about the ATS app will continue to be shared with student athletes by the College’s athletics department.
Please take a few minutes to download the #CampusClear app so you can begin self-screening and monitoring your health. A series of frequently asked questions (FAQs) related to the #CampusClear app and the College’s ongoing response to COVID-19 are available on the website. You are encouraged to visit this site regularly for updates and additional resources.
As a reminder, if you have not yet agreed to the #TogetherNC pledge and viewed the COVID-19 awareness video, please do so before arriving to campus. Students can access the pledge through the Safe Colleges link they received in their North Central email and faculty and staff can do so via their PeopleAdmin records checklist.
